Features:
Hamilton Pool Preserve is a historic swimming hole which was designated a preserve in 1990. Located 3/4 mile from it's confluence with the Pedernales River, Hamilton Creek spills out over limestone outcroppings to create a 50 foot waterfall. The waterfall never completely dries up but will slow to a trickle during dry times. However, the pool's water level stays pretty constant, even in times of drought.
The preserve will sometimes close due to flooding, high bacteria in the pool from heavy rain or hazardous trail conditions. Please call 512-264-2740 for current swimming conditions. Message updated daily at 9am or after a rain.
Tips:
No pets
No glass containers
During spring and summer months the preserve will often reach capacity and a waiting line is formed.
Hours:
9am-6pm daily, weather permitting, no entry after 5:30pm. All guests must be out when the gate closed at 6pm.

Hamilton Pool Preserve is a great place to spend the day or just a few hours. We like to take out of town guests here because it's hard to believe something so beautiful & peaceful is located just 20 minutes outside the city. But it is! And it's worth the trip.
A few tips to make the most it:
Call ahead to make sure it's open. They have to close sometimes due to heavy rains, etc.
Get there early especially...more
