Austin Film and Arts Academy has been my worst camp experience in the Austin area. My 10 year old took a photography camp for 4 days from 9am-4pm 1)My child's camp instructor said he had a problem with cussing and that if the kids caught him cussing they should remind him not to. He did cuss. 2)They showed movies every day. I did not pay for them to show my child movies. Not only that, they showed a few PG-13 movies. My child is 10! No, I do not want her watching Mission Impossible without me. 3)My daughter was smart enough to turn down the movie. Guess what they had her do instead?! Help clean the bathrooms!!!! Yes, she cleaned a toilet. NOT okay. Worst camp ever....more

My 8-year-old attended both the Claymation and Stop Gap Animation camps, June 2013. He has some previous experience in both, but wanted to learn more techniques. Although their film classes for older kids may be better, these two classes seem like an afterthought to provide something for younger kids (ages 7-12). There were not enough kids in Claymation so they combined the 2 Claymation kids into the Stop Gap (Lego) class. They did some scripting and modeling the clay and filming in 2 days, did very little the 3rd day, and then watched 3 movies on the last day. In Stop Gap, he filmed his video on the 1st day and had to wait around the following days while the other kids filmed their movies. He did not want to attend one day because he was very bored, so I kept him home. We did go the last day and again, he watched close to 3 movies all day. On their website they say they provide snacks, but they never did, so pack a full lunch with snacks if you choose this camp. I supposed if your child is a true beginner, this Claymation & Stop Gap might be useful, just know there are no physical activities in the 7 hours they are there.
