My family loves the ANSC. During the summer we like to go early in the morning before the heat sets in. After we explore all the animal exhibits; fish, reptiles, mammals, birds and more (most of which are rescued & cannot survive in the wild), we head over to the giant sand pit where kids can dig up dinosaur bones. Finally, a trip to the nature center wouldn't be complete without a stop at the Naturalist Workshop where the kids can get an up close view of nature through magnifying glasses and microscopes. Certain days of the week they even let kids bring a favorite natural treasure and trade it for a new one at the trade counter. Not only is the Austin Nature & Science Center fun and educational, it's free! It's a great way to spend a day with the family....more
